Award-winning Anjali joins The Construction Helpline webinar to discuss the importance of tackling mental health and inequality amongst young people

Discover why inclusion and diversity is central to construction with Anjali Pindoria

Anjali Pindoria is an avid change-maker and believes construction is key to building communities and cultivating societies of different types. Without buildings and construction, there would be no foundation for lasting legacy and no place or safe haven for growing communities to integrate into modern society (UK Construction Week and The Career Girl).

Why inclusion and diversity matter in construction

Join Anjali Pindoria (pictured) and hear her speak more about the importance of inclusion and diversity within the construction industry. Anjali is a Project Surveyor at Avi Contracts Ltd – a family-run subcontracting company specialising in carpentry and joinery. Projects range from new builds to refurbishment work involving some of the UK’s prestigious listed buildings.

Before joining Avi Contracts Ltd, Anjali graduated in 2017 with a First-Class Honours Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management from the University of Westminster

Being the voice for change

Anjali is a regular featured public speaker across a number of construction-based events and exhibitions in the UK.  Her public speaking work has helped to raise awareness of the lack of BAME representation amongst construction professionals within the industry. Lack of inclusion and diversity is not often talked about or commonly addressed in the construction industry. Anjali is passionate in voicing this to drive meaningful change, awareness and to break stereotypes about the construction industry amongst young people (Keltbray and PwC).

According to research undertaken by pbctoday – there is an alarming skill shortage in construction and lack of interest of working in construction amongst young people. 71% of under 25s are turned off by the thought of working in construction altogether. Ultimately, young people, particularly those from minority ethnic or disadvantaged backgrounds need to be encouraged to enter the construction workforce for two key reasons 1) to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce and 2.) boost the number of under 25s entering the industry.

Hear Anjali speak more about dispelling some of the myths and stereotypes around construction, and why diversity and inclusion is important to her in the upcoming Building Bridges Webinar (hosted by Construction Helpline).
