Many people question why there is such a scheme. The CSCS ( Construction Skills Certification Scheme ) card was created to help the UK construction industry improve the understanding of safety on sites and reduce accidents. It’s intention is to prevent accidents and injuries to workers on site.

But before you can get a CSCS card you have to pass a test which demonstrates your competence in health and safety. The test itself is on a touch screen and the questions are based around your knowledge of working on a site. You will have to take a test relevant to the card you are applying for as there are different grades for different jobs.
